About Us

Pixel Studios is a family-run business, established in 2012, and purchased by Shannon and Matt Shelly of Shelly Media in August 2023. Our mission is to provide the most professional creative studio experience possible while still remaining accessible and affordable for smaller creatives by including lighting and offering bookings by the hour. At Pixel Studios, we believe top-quality images, television, and content can be produced right here in Charleston, eliminating the need to travel to major hubs like New York, Los Angeles, or Atlanta. We are committed to empowering our local creative community by offering a professional-level space that fosters innovation and inclusivity. The studio has previously welcomed myriad photoshoots, music videos, commercials, local creators, branding shoots, and HGTV and Bravo TV series.

Matt originally hails from Miami, but spent most of his formative years in South Carolina, until he managed to get a job working on The Notebook (he’s even in the movie, see if you can find him!) and then left to pursue a career in television in New York. He’s worked as a Camera Operator, Director of Photography, and Director on reality series like Survivor, Real Housewives, Top Chef, The Real World, and of course, Southern Charm, while always keeping photography and endless other creative projects as an interest on the side. He talks about lighting more than any person probably should, and currently works as a Director and Director of Photography in unscripted television when he’s not at Pixel.

Shannon was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and after studying Communications and Photography spent years working in television production on shows like The Apprentice and Law & Order, before pivoting to the world of wine. After working for several small businesses in the wine world in Brooklyn thereby realizing she wanted her own, she has eventually found her way back to the creative world, making pottery, dreaming up weird photo shoot projects, and using her organizational wizardry to manage the day to day operations at Pixel. She also really likes swamps.
